Socotra today announced the launch of Socotra Configuration Assistant, a native product experience that turns business requirements into a working product in Socotra. Users can describe a product in natural language, upload a filing, or repurpose an existing Socotra configuration. Configuration Assistant then helps them build and refine the product, inspect the configuration, validate the result, and deploy it to a new or existing tenant for testing.

From implementation service to product experience

Socotra launched Agentic Configuration in 2025 as a service from its Implementation team. After helping dozens of carriers use it to build and validate insurance products, Socotra is now bringing Agentic Configuration fully documented and natively available in Socotra Configuration Studio. No external AI assistant or separate development environment is required. The result is a practical way for product, underwriting, implementation, and technology teams to work together on real insurance products.

Configuration Assistant is designed for both business and technical users. Business users can review the product structure and business logic without reading code. Technical users can inspect the underlying configuration and plugin code when they need more detail. The entire experience is built on Socotra’s flexible data model, open APIs, and token-efficient documentation.

“Insurance teams should be able to test product ideas against their core instead of waiting months to see whether those ideas work,” said Dan Woods, Founder and CEO of Socotra. “Configuration Assistant gives teams a guided way to move from requirements to a working product, while keeping validation and human approval in the process. Instead of vibe coding, Socotra’s configuration-only deployment means agentically created products run on the exact same enterprise-scale core that Socotra’s customers depend on every day.”

Turn business requirements into a working product

Configuration Assistant is easy to use for both business and technical leaders:

  1. Start in multiple ways: Build a product by describing it in natural language, uploading a filing, or using an existing Socotra product. Configuration Assistant will propose intelligent assumptions where the instructions are incomplete.
  2. Build in conversation: Chat with Configuration Assistant to create and iterate the product data model, business logic, and rating model. Get a side-by-side view of the chat and product in the same workspace.
  3. Inspect and validate: Review the product through visual views, plain-language summaries, and raw JSON before deploying. Configuration Assistant allows both business and technology teams to understand and edit the product.
  4. Deploy and quote: Deploy the product to a new or existing tenant. Move into Socotra Operations Workbench to create an account, and then quote and bind a policy. Insurers can also leverage Operations Assistant to automate intake, validation, insights, and issuance.
