Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, 6th Oct 2026 – (KOREWIRE) –
Fontplop has announced the relaunch of fontplop.com as a browser-based text style converter and font generator. The relaunched site converts ordinary text into more than 45 stylized variants that can be copied and pasted into other applications. It also adds a group of font generators that render text in real typefaces and export the result as an image, together with a separate set of text tools.
The relaunched site is organized into three main areas. The first is a library of copy-and-paste text styles, which covers cursive, bold, italic, gothic, bubble, and small text, among others. A visitor types a word or phrase once and the site displays it in every available style at the same time. Selecting a line copies that version to the clipboard. The styles are built from Unicode characters, the international standard for text encoding, so the converted text can be pasted into any application that supports the standard without installing a typeface.
The approach relies on the fact that Unicode contains several complete alphabets beyond the standard Latin letters. These include bold, italic, script, fraktur, and double-struck forms that were added to the standard for use in mathematical notation. Because each of these is a separate character and not a formatting instruction, the styling is retained when the text is copied into a field that accepts plain text only. How a given style is displayed still depends on the fonts installed on the device that shows it, and some styles do not include every digit or accented letter.
The second area is a collection of font generators. These work differently from the text styles. Instead of substituting Unicode characters, each generator renders the entered text in an actual typeface and allows the result to be downloaded as a PNG image. The collection includes more than 15 themed generators, with tattoo, graffiti, pixel, typewriter, western, varsity, retro, comic, and logo lettering among them. According to the site, all typefaces used by the generators are published under the SIL Open Font License or the Apache License 2.0, both of which permit commercial use.
The two approaches serve different uses. Copy-and-paste styles remain text, so they can be selected and edited after pasting, but their appearance is limited to the character forms that Unicode defines. Image output can use any typeface in the collection and looks the same on every device, but it cannot be edited as text once it has been exported.
The third area is a set of text tools for tasks that fall outside styling. These include a blank character tool, which supplies an invisible Unicode character and can also detect hidden characters in a piece of text, and a rune translator that converts English text into runic characters and back again. The site also provides alphabet charts, symbol palettes, a Roman numeral converter, and a meme maker.
A central feature of the relaunch is that conversion takes place in the browser. Fontplop states that the text a visitor types, and any image uploaded to the meme maker, is processed on the visitor’s own device and is not sent to the site’s server. The tools do not require registration or an account, and the site places no limit on the number of conversions.
The relaunched site also includes guidance on accessibility. Stylized Unicode text is not always interpreted correctly by screen readers and other assistive technology, because the characters involved were defined for mathematical and technical notation and not for general writing. The site addresses this point alongside its tools.
Fontplop describes itself as an independent project. The site states that it is not affiliated with any of the social media or messaging platforms on which its text styles can be used.
The relaunch brings the text styles, font generators, and text tools together under a single navigation structure, with a separate index page for each of the three areas. Individual styles and generators have their own pages, and the site also offers previews that show how a converted name or phrase would appear on a profile. The site is published in English.
Fontplop is affiliated with HLPlanet, a website that publishes reviews and guides on keyboards and game controllers. The two sites are run by separate teams, and each has its own content and tools.
All tools on the relaunched site are available at fontplop.com without charge or registration.
