UPS is putting more power directly into the hands of SMB customers with a series of shipping enhancements, including new pickup management tools, faster label creation and expanded mobile capabilities. These updates give customers better visibility and control over their shipping.

Specifically, the company is rolling out:

  • A new online dashboard to manage pickups with real-time status updates

  • Faster shipment creation and a customizable experience on ups.com

  • A refreshed mobile app that integrates with The UPS Store®

“We know small business owners are masters at juggling priorities, but a complicated shipping process shouldn’t be one of them,” said Matt Guffey, UPS Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer. “UPS gives customers one less thing to worry about with tools designed to save time, reduce complexity and help businesses stay focused on serving customers and growing.”

More Control Over Pickups

For small businesses, flexibility matters. Shipping volumes can vary from day to day, making it important to have pickup options that adapt to changing needs. UPS’s new pickup dashboard gives customers a best-in-class experience, allowing them to schedule, manage and track pickups in one place, with real-time notifications providing updates along the way.

UPS has also improved how customers can manage Smart Pickups®, allowing them to request, confirm or cancel pickups based on their actual shipping needs. Because Smart Pickups occur only on days when shipments are ready, businesses can save up to 50% over the cost of a daily pickup.

Faster Shipment Creation

Customers expect fast fulfillment, while small businesses are managing incoming orders from more sources than ever before, including multiple online marketplaces. UPS has simplified label creation on UPS.com with a new single-screen shipping experience that brings all shipment details and service options together in one place, making it easier to compare choices, understand tradeoffs and create shipments faster.

Customers also can import order information directly from shopping carts and major online marketplaces, and shipping label templates help reduce repetitive data entry and speed up fulfillment.

Shipping Tools on the Go

Today’s small business owners aren’t always behind a desk. They need the ability to manage shipments wherever work takes them. The redesigned UPS app allows customers to create labels, schedule pickups, track shipments and manage shipping activity from their mobile devices, including the ability to scan a tracking number for instant shipment visibility without manual entry.

The app also integrates with more than 5,500 The UPS Store® locations across the U.S., making it easy for customers to create labels digitally and print them where it’s convenient. Labels printed through The UPS Store are RFID-enabled, giving customers enhanced shipment visibility and near-real-time tracking from the moment a package enters the UPS network.

These enhancements simplify the shipping experience for customers who use UPS digital solutions, complemented by a more flexible online dashboard that allows customers to personalize their UPS.com experience. This marks a significant advancement in how businesses can manage shipments with ease and remain in control with the highest level of visibility.

Guffey added, “Whether a business ships a few packages a week or hundreds a day, UPS is committed to creating the best customer experience in the industry.”
