America’s largest privately owned rum distillery hands its home market to a Louisiana family company — first shipments September 1, 2026

LACASSINE, La., Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Louisiana Spirits LLC, the distillery behind Bayou® Rum, has appointed Crescent Crown Distributing as its distribution partner in Louisiana. First shipments go out today.

The move puts Louisiana’s own rum back on the trucks of a Louisiana company. Crescent Crown, family-owned since 1982, runs four distribution centers in the state — New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Thibodaux — and serves roughly 8,000 retail and on-premise accounts across South Louisiana. It sells and delivers more than 30 million cases of beverages a year in Louisiana and Arizona, and added spirits to its Louisiana book in 2023.

The partnership lands on the back of the biggest rebuild in the brand’s history. In 2026 Bayou relaunched both flagship expressions from the liquid out: a pot still and column still blend in place of the old all-pot recipe, lighter and built to work in a drink; a redrawn bottle and label with the Louisiana state outline embossed into the shoulder; a new high-speed line at Lacassine filling 3,600 bottles an hour; and a shelf position that sets an American rum alongside the imported brands rather than above them. It is the first step rather than the finished picture — the rest of the Bayou range follows the two flagships through the same rebuild.

Crescent Crown carries Bayou White Rum and Bayou Spiced Rum, both 750 ml, from day one.

Bayou is distilled at Lacassine from sugarcane grown in the fields around the distillery and molasses from M.A. Patout & Son of Jeanerette — the oldest family-owned and operated sugar mill in the United States, in continuous operation since 1825. Louisiana grows more sugarcane than all of the Caribbean islands combined. The distillery has welcomed visitors since 2013 and draws tour traffic from across the Gulf South and East Texas.

Louisiana is the first step in a wider U.S. rebuild for the brand. Bayou is in talks with distributors across a number of Southern states, with further markets to follow through the fall.
