Three-Time GRAMMY Winning Producer Reimagines Inspirational Pop Folk Song
CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — “One More Day” is the new release today from singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist John Ludwig. The first song from his upcoming album, “Grief and Hope Revisited,” was originally written and recorded by the late David M. Bailey.
A voting Member of the Recording Academy, Ludwig’s first album, “Grief, Loss & Hope for Tomorrow,” shipped exactly 25 years ago, when no one could have known the tragic events that would unfold that morning in New York City and Washington DC.
“Certainly, grief is a topic that doesn’t go away in life. It happens and is something we have to deal with,” Ludwig said. “So, on this new album, the first song being released – on 9/11 – is one of hope. Whatever your situation, you’ve still got today.”
Ludwig, who opened for Bailey in 2008, added, “I feel like I’m coming full circle to the promise I made to David in 2009 that I’d keep playing his song. I’m playing it now in a forever sense that it’s being released and out there. And as the last line of the song goes, ‘Hallelujah, you got one more day’.”
Ludwig explained that three-time GRAMMY-winning producer Lonnie Park had the idea and the ability to take Bailey’s original vocal and turn it into the lead vocal in what’s being released today. “We have a new arrangement. Some things are a little different,” Ludwig noted, “but David’s the voice on there.”
The song is available on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and other online digital music retailers and streaming platforms.
Ludwig is also president of the Chicago Songwriters Collective and the founder of the non-profit These Streets Are Holy.
Bailey succumbed to cancer in 2010.
